Dabri-Dwarka Flyover Fails To Ease Congestion
Delhi government has spent more than hundred crores of tax payers money on a flyover designed at Dabri crossing with no relief to the carriageway. It is just an example of the inefficiency of our government agencies /departments. The flyover was designed to ease traffic congestion and provide better connectivity but has failed to serve its purpose due to poor planning. At peak hours it remains choked for hours as the vehicles coming from Pankha road to Dwarka side has to pass through a narrow lane which is hardly around four meters wide and only one vehicle can pass through at a time due to the presence of building right in the middle of the carriageway. Due to high congestion of traffic people choose to take the wrong side and create the hurdles for the traffic coming from Dwarka side to Pankha road and also survive the risk of an accident.
Who is at the receiving end?
This flyover was open for traffic use in 2013 and since then these four buildings remain a big hurdle. The government agencies are unable to clear this traffic bottleneck. Can the planners of this flyover be questioned for this chaotic planning without proper clearances that have resulted in wastage of huge amount of honest tax payers money? The owner of the building has somehow obtained the court stay order and the matter is sub judice. So the problem is bigger and is resulting in wastage of massive fuel, air pollution, and man-hours at this point. Delhi administrative authorities /agencies should explore the possibility if the matter can be requested to the judiciary for early possible relief to commuters. It is the people who are now at the receiving end due to the callous and irresponsible attitude of the government agencies responsible for this design.
